MARA is one of the five new EUSBSR flagship projects selected by the National Coordinator's meeting in May.
The actions of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) are implemented by means of Flagship projects. Flagships demonstrate the progress of the Strategy, and may serve as pilot examples for desired action in a given field.
MARA has been selected under the Horizontal Action Spatial Planning. This Horizontal Action focuses on encouraging the use of maritime and land-based spatial planning in all Member States around the Baltic Sea and developing a common approach for cross-border cooperation. The overall goal of the HA ‘Spatial Planning’ is to achieve territorial cohesion perspective in the Baltic Sea Region by 2030, i.e. the Region shall be well-integrated and coherent macro-region, and it has overcome the socio-economic development divides between its individual parts and turned the global challenges into assets.
This status will give extra visibility and recognition to our project and shows the political relevance of MARA in the Baltic Sea Region!
